Students on the Community-Based Education and Service programme worked in communities across the Northern and North East regions, running household surveys and supporting clinic days.
What they recorded did not stay in a student report. Findings on immunisation coverage and the practical reasons families miss clinic days were passed to the district health directorate.
For the students, the effect is harder to measure and probably larger. Several have said the placement is the reason they intend to work in community health.
